Deep in the heart of leafy Buchanan Castle Estate, Strathendrick House is a haven of peace and tranquillity. With its vast garden, complete with gurgling stream and dominated by an enormous fir, mature trees and an orchard, you can be sure of utter seclusion and privacy on your holiday in Scotland.
This substantial 5 bedroom house situated in the grounds of Buchanan Castle has been newly and lovingly renovated over the last year. On the ground floor, the enormous and open plan kitchen/dining room and main living area, which lead directly onto the spectacular garden via huge glass window/ doors, features a log-burning stove and a state-of-the-art maple and granite kitchen. There is a connecting TV snug, tartan and cosy, with a further log burning stove. Through a little corridor, complete with piano, you reach an airy study, featuring yet another log burning stove and a stag head with antlers (!) for anyone planning a spot of leisurely work whilst on vacation. On this floor too is a double bedroom with en-suite, great for the elderly or anyone with mobility Issues, which leads directly to the living and kitchen area, no stairs required. There is also a colourful and quirky public bathroom.
Off a long upstairs corridor, dotted with interesting maps and pictures, there are four more bedrooms, two with large king-sized beds and sumptuous furnishings, en-suite shower rooms and French doors leading to Juliet Balconies, whilst the other two bedrooms are delightfully furnished and benefit from a further public bathroom with free standing claw foot bath.
The property shows flair and style and reflects the travels and experiences of the owners, featuring unique pieces and quirky Art, giving it a sumptuous yet supremely homely feel. This is thus the ideal property for family and friends, large groups, or those seeking a romantic getaway, to gather and enjoy the light and spacious surroundings, or as the ideal touring base.
Situated in Scotland’s first National Park and with Loch Lomond, and the majesty of Ben Lomond close by, the area is staggeringly beautiful. On sunny days there is the opportunity for al fresco dining, and there are trampolines and swings for those feeling youthful.
There are also a huge variety of outdoor activities are on offer. Golfers have the choice of many top class courses all within easy reach, including the championship course of Loch Lomond, as well as the Buchanan Castle course and the delightful 8 holes of Strathendrick, which are only minutes away. The Drymen and East Loch Lomond area is a veritable paradise for anglers of every level of experience. The waters of this area are the home to many different types of fish including: brown & rainbow trout, perch, pike, salmon and roach, whilst Loch Lomond, the largest freshwater loch in Scotland, offers a wide range of water sports, to suit all ages and abilities, including sailing, canoeing and water skiing. For avid horse riders, stables are situated within the Buchanan Castle Estate itself.
The village of Drymen itself is endlessly charming, with local amenities, several fine pubs and eateries, a leisure and sports complex open to the public, as well as a variety of events including ceilidhs, agricultural shows, and dances at Hogmanay. With the historic town of Stirling and its castle, battlefields and monuments, and Glasgow, the City of Culture and Entertainment, both less than half an hour’s drive away, this delightful self- catering holiday house has something to offer everyone.
